This edition of the International Symposium on Technetium in Chemistry
and Nuclear Medicine is dedicated to Marino
Nicolini.
The seventh edition of the International Symposium on Technetium in Chemistry and Nuclear Medicine will be held in Bressanone (Bz), Italy, on September 6-9, 2006.
It is organized by the University of Padova, Department of Pharmaceutical
Sciences, held under the auspices of CNR, SCI (Inorg. Chem. Division
and GIR), AIMN, and SRS (GICR), and in cooperation with IAEA.
The Symposium intends to collect the interest of all the investigators in the field of Technetium and Rhenium chemistry and those related disciplines oriented on the development of new radiopharmaceuticals for diagnosis and therapy.
Furthermore, the chemistry of other radiometals such as Copper,
Gallium, Indium, Yttrium, Lutetium, etc., will be considered
with emphasis on internuclide comparison of labelling efficiency and
medical efficacy.
The Symposium approaches the multidisciplinary problems related to the development and production of new radiometal-labelled compounds throughout the determination of their structures and their biological properties, in view of pre-clinical experiments to validate their clinical application in radiodiagnosis and/or radiotherapy.
The discussion will focus on the development of high specific activity radiopharmaceuticals, necessary for receptor targeting, on the determination of the radiochemical species formed during labelling, and on the procedures for quality control of the new radiolabelled drugs.
Since only few new raditracers entered the market in recent years, the Steering and Organizing Committees have planned a round table on the "search of new target for new clinical diagnoses" on the third day of the Symposium.
This edition of the Symposium maintains the same structure of the previous ones, with three one-day sessions on the following topics:
(i) metal chemistry, (ii) labelling studies and radiotracer biodistribution in animals, and (iii) clinical application.
Invited lectures, oral communications, and poster sessions (with discussion at the poster) will be organized.
The Symposium will encourage the interaction among students, postdoctoral
fellows, and senior scientists through its programming and social
functions. For this reason, the Organizing Committee will provide
the upcoming generation of scientists with participation and travel
awards throughout an agreement with the SRS, the IAEA, and Companies.
As in the previous editions, L.C. Congressi will take care of the hospitality before and during the Symposium with its high professionalism.
We look forwards to welcoming you in Bressanone in September 2006.
Giampiero Giron (Symposium President)
Ulderico Mazzi (Symposium Chairman)
